Conscious Leadership

conscious leadership Mar 01, 2024
I envision a world where the unconscious assumption that we must suppress our true potential, and conform to predetermined systems to remain secure, has been replaced with a culture of conscious leadership and living as cornerstones for success.

"I am so overwhelmed, there is so much to do, there is simply not enough hours in the day...", "I feel drained by this job, but I need to stay here, I don't have any other option at this stage in my life", "We want to prioritise, but we can't control what comes from the business side", "I need to handle all these challenging people around me", "Everything moves so slow". "I just want to get it done yesterday".

Conscious Leadership provides what is lacking from traditional Management Training Today. Being a leader is more than what a broken management system makes it to be. I teach the leaders of tomorrow the tools they need to truly lead and live consciously.

Why Conscious Leadership?

I envision a world where the unconscious assumption that we must suppress our true potential, and conform to predetermined systems to remain secure, has been replaced with a culture of conscious leadership and living as cornerstones for success.

Leaders today feel stressed, disconnected and inefficient as they need to do and be everything at once, eventually feeling stretched and pulled in all directions, overloaded with frustrations and a longing to influence effortlessly and deliver more of what is needed.

The consequences for these leaders is overloaded and fully booked calendars, leading to long hours, potential burnout and still the quality and value delivery they are seeking is not delivered. Instead their personal lives are impacted with lack of sleep at night, bringing their stress into their everyday life with their partner, kids and friends. Over time this is unsustainable. Either they burn out and drop out or they change their jobs, and worse they continue to be unfulfilled where they are.

The new kind of leadership we need in the future is a holistic and integrated approach. Ensuring an agile and conscious approach that maintains our health and helps us make conscious choices.

Because we are increasingly driven by and influenced by artificial intelligence and machine learning, we need to remain conscious and elevate our consciousness so that we create a culture where we feel uplifted, inspired and joyful, expressing and living our full potential.

Unpacking what makes you shine

I was there, available, ready and prepared, but he didn't show up. It was the third time that he either did not show up or cancelled our meeting. My mind started racing and my shoulders felt heavy, I could feel a pressure in my chest and a knot in my stomach. I was feeling frustrated, sad, angry, disrespected.

This moment made me conscious of my boundaries, and how I don't want to be treated. My experience might be unique, because in my 20+ years in corporate I had never experienced anything like it. If you are unable to meet with your colleague, the bare minimum expected of you is to let them know. Failing to do so, reflects a mindset and a culture that is unconscious with lack of self-awareness and it diminishes trust.

Conscious leadership empowers us to recognise our worth, and find fulfilment in our contributions. I am an ambassador for being fully accountable and take full self-responsibility, which is why I challenge myself to have those difficult conversations, this is also what I guide leaders to do.

We all have areas of potential to develop, and taking a more conscious approach to leadership opens up to learning, influence and awareness of blind-spots.

  • Where in your life are you accepting less than you deserve?
  • How might adopting a conscious leadership approach transform your experience?

We are not all the same, and I believe that utilising ourselves to the fullest includes being able to become aware of our blind-spots, connect to our consciousness and learn. What do we observe about ourselves, the systems we are part of, and our interactions with others?

How can we we create more win-win for our family and friends, and not just the companies we work for or our leaders?

Have you ever thought of the Conscious Corporate? A friend of mine recently talked about it, and to me it makes so much sense that this is the direction in which we are headed. Let's stop the autopilot and become more aware.

  • How often do you catch yourself on autopilot?
  • What impact do you have as a leader today?
  • What are the obstacles within your team today?
